OK
new story for Christmas running through my mind.  Matthew is the protagonist and he considers himself very lucky even though he is poor and the youngest of 8 children.
he buys the dollar lotto tickets for his Mom each day and dreams of having his own ticket.  while walking down the street a ticket flies down to him out of thin air..he scratches and goes to the store and finds out he has won 10 DOLLARS..Overjoyed he decides to buy a Christmas tree for the family as they usually cannot afford one.
while walking home he comes upon a homeless man drinking a soda.  The man praises the tree and tells Matthew it was always his wish to have a tree for Christmas.  He bargains with the boy for the tree by telling him the soda can he is drinking from is magical and anyone who uses the can the right way will become rich.
Matthew believes him and makes the trade.
he sits there and waits for magic that does not come.  then he figures maybe he should make his own magic with the can and uses the tin to fashion taps for his shoes because Matthew LOVES to dance.  So he dances and people who are usually generous at Christmas time drop money in his cap.  Overjoyed he goes to buy another tree and finds the man who traded him the coke can and thanks him for being so generous!

Make My Christmas

Girls,Boys, Moms and Dads...
Guess what time it is?
                                      It's time to PLAY
                       Make My Christmas!
Where a little bit of knowledge about Christmas and just the right spirit can win you the WISH..of your dreams!
The roar of approval from the audience almost drowned out those familiar game show words. Hundreds of children packed the studio clapping, screaming and stomping their feet with joy and excitement. YEAH..a show JUST for kids! And tonite the show would announce the 3 finalists.  All eyes were focused on that stage and on the MC- Jack Frost.
Make my Christmas was the brainchild of DJ Jack Frost, a gnome of a man physically but a giant in knowing just what kids like.
The premise of the game was simple.  Answer questions about Christmas on your computer correctly and you advance into the next round.  Anyone 6-12 who had a computer and a wish for Christmas could play.
The competition starts in January and the contestants are whittled down from 100 after the first set of questions to a final 3 at the end.  Before Jack Frost asks the last question each finalist tells the audience a little bit about themselves.  Jack asks the question they have 3 minutes to answer.  Their answers  are flashed above them on a large tv screen and the audience in the studio AND at home vote for their favorite answer.  This is THE most popular show on TV.

Jack  genuinely loved Christmas and LOVED children to tune in and be happy.   Jack used to be one of Santa's elves who just wanted to do more for the children of the world who  believe in the spirit of Christmas.
So now that everyone knows what I'm talking about...
LET'S GET BACK TO THE SHOW!
JACK- Are you ready to meet your finalists?  I can't HEAR  you(hand behind his pointed ear)..i SAID...Are you ready to meet your top 3?  The noise was deafening and Jack was smiling and bouncing up and down .. eyes glittering with excitement.  The room was literally shaking like an mini earthquake..kids could hardly keep in their seats. Twinkling  lights on the stage Christmas tree shot out tiny kaleidoscope flashes  and  silver bells on the ceiling gave a disco-ball effect to the chaos of the night.
It took a full 5 minutes to quiet the pint sized mob enough so the game show could continue.
Jack-  And here they are...
  Your three finalists!
"First from New York City..let's hear it for Madison Monet!
Out strode Madison..tall,thin,auburn-haired and dressed in the latest Holiday fashion...red suede jacket and skirt with white fur trim and  muff.  She looked much older than 12.  Chin held high  she walked out as confident as a  super-model.  She smiled  but you knew she didn't mean it.
"Hello world I'm Madison Monet and if  I look familiar perhaps you have seen me on tv as the face of Monet jewels.  I just LOVE Christmas..don't you?   Again with that fakey smile and princess wave.  The fun  seemed to disappear for a moment followed by polite applause  Madison walked behind her podium muttering under her breath "Stupid children..just wait until i win"
JACK.."Let's hear it for Madison guys" and they had to hold up applaud signs to get the crowd going again.
JACK: Next it's Miguel Martinez Jr.!
Miguel peeked out from the curtain and took a big gulp, thought"Here goes nothing" and showed  dance moves as he crumped out to the middle of the stage.  The girls in the audience sighed  and cheered like crazy.  Miguel was 11 years old and Latin handsome.  Black hair and brown puppy dog eyes  wearing his little league jacket at his Father's request.  Then he showed some hip hop moves as he made his way to the podium . He gave smiled and waved ... happy  the audience was showing love.
"Hello World, I am Mike Martinez Jr. and I love Christmas(looked at Father) as much as I love baseball"
What he wanted to say wanted to say was "As much as I LOVE to dance" but he knew better than ignite his Father's anger. Papa wanted his son to be the next A-Rod and Mike Jr. wanted to be the next Twitch.
JACK:   And a warm welcome for Sarah Winslow!"
As Sarah walked slowly onto the stage it was apparent that she would never stand out in a crowd.  Dark blond hair cut in a bob probably by her Mother, a little too heavy, dressed in a faded red jumper just a little too long.  Green eyes and a snub nose.  Sarah shyly walked behind her podium.  And then she SMILED.  The stage turned bright and sparkly and suddenly you just felt that everything in the world was going to be all right.  You just had to smile back.
:Hello everyone...My name is Sarah Winslow and I am so happy you came to the show.  I love Christmas because everyone is so much happier in this time of celebration and  that makes me happy.  The smile grew more infectious.

Then such a roar of applause long and loud that Sarah smiled even wider with shining eyes sending joy into the crowd.
JACK: You kids are the BEST!  Now Here  we GO.
   The final Question:
"What does Christmas mean to you"?
                                             And
                                                    What is your Christmas wish?
You have 3 minutes to think about this before you reply. And while our final 3 are thinking about their answer let's review the voting.  After the last contestant gives their response I  start the Holiday timer for 10 minutes.  You in the audience as well as the kids at home  have 10 minutes to cast their vote.  The votes are then tabulated and the winner will receive their very own Christmas wish!
JACK: Here we go..Madison..what is your answer?
MADISON: Well my Mom and Dad go skiing every Christmas but they can't take me.  I get lots of presents and a big tree and my nanny takes me ice skating in Central park and I COULD have a big party if I wanted and invite all of the audience.(another smile)
My Christmas wish is to go skiing with my parents in Switzerland.
Very polite applause followed from the children who knew what Christmas was like without their Mom and Dad.

JACK: Mike?

MIKE:  In my culture we have Las Posadas.  For 9 nites  we travel from house to house looking for shelter for Mary and Joseph.  Many houses refuse us until we find the house that has a the nativity scene.  we go in and have a party.  In our big Christmas celebration we break the pinata which is filled with candy and toys and shoot off fireworks to welcome Jesus.  I get to dance a lot which makes me happy.

My Christmas wish is to dance on National TV.
All the little girls in the audience clapped like mad and dreamed of dancing with Miguel.

Jack: And Sarah..what does Christmas mean to you?

Sarah's eyes lit up as she replied:
For as long as I can remember we have had a Christmas celebration at our house for anyone who might be alone on Christmas.  My Mother cooks all day and we have a small tree and Christmas carols on the radio. Our door stays open for 24 hours.  I get to dress up like an elf and hand out small gifts to anyone who comes in.  And you know what?  Many of our neighbors bring food and gifts too.  Every year more and more people come to celebrate with us.  My Mother says the reason for the season is to give .  It's so much fun when people smile.
Oh and i would like to keep my Christmas wish a secret right now.
And then Sarah smiled and the crowd went crazy.

JACK:
Okay all you girls and boys here and at home.  It's time to....VOTE
and the clock on the wall ticked the 10 minutes down and the final  smiled at each other and kept their fingers crossed while We wish you a Merry Christmas played on the loudspeakers.  Madison used her cell phone to vote for herself while Mike started dancing hip hop to the music much to the delight of the girls in the audience.  Sarah just smiled that megawatt smile and sang to the music.

                                       10 minutes later
JACK: Ok no more voting.  Santas elves will add up the results while we go to commercial.
                                              2 minutes pass
JACK:  And we are BACK .   Before i read the results girls and boys please give a round of applause once more to our contestants.
JACK:  I have the envelope in my hand...ARE U Ready?
Big applause followed.
JACK:  It was close but the winner is:
                                         Sarah Winslow!
The cheering and applause was loud and everyone was smiling except Mike and Madison .  Mike quickly recovered and danced over to Sarah and shook her hand giving her a hug.  Madison stayed behind her podium gave Sarah a quick practiced smile and went back to texting on her phone.

JACK:  Congratulations Sarah and now everyone wants to know...WHAT is your Christmas wish?

With that million dollar smile  Sarah replied...My wish is:
That Madison and Mike get their wish.

                                            The End

need to write a flash fiction Christmas story by September 30..have 3 ideas in mind..i'll try and start all 3 and see what flows the best
1- Make my Christmas- a game show for children
2- Christmas on the Moon-finding a tree on the Moon is next to impossible
3- From Sad to Glad- rich girl gives others less fortunate a Merry Christmas and finds herself the true recipient
So many ideas for stories running through my mind.  Christmas on the moon, Make my Christmas( a game show), From Sad to GLAD..which is a story about a rich little girl who has everything money can buy but every Christmas she spends with her Nanny because her parents go skiing or somewhere else and not with Samantha..so her nanny reads her this fairy tale about what Christmas is all about..which is giving and she decides that she will give as many people as she can a Merry Christmas and in doing that she finds happiness. Story idea 3 may be the easiest..have to do some research on how to write stories.  Got a prize from ChaBooCha in March on how to make stories "fly"  ...Maybe that will help me to construct the story..i only have 20 more days to complete...Any ideas?

OK
All this jazz for today will be about my Christmas Flash Fiction story.
so here it is
Takes place in the future...there is a show called "Make My Christmas"..people answer questions all year long so they can make the finals of the game that takes place a week before Christmas.  There are 3 finalists..They all meet at the North Pole to compete in the finals.  Of course it's televised and there are more questions to be answered.  Answer them correctly and you jet off to some fabulous place you listed on your Christmas wish list..Answer them wrong and you go to..Siberia or to a junkyard in some horrible destination.
Now Bella is my heroine..and she is going to be complicated..and as the game and the story go on her bad qualities will melt away until she becomes the "real deal"
and oh..did i mention the finalists are all kids?
So that is the gist of my flash fiction story..let me know what you think of it.

This blogging stuff is going to be FUN..can't wait to share blogs with everyone..why didn't i do this sooner?  Maybe cuz i host 3 forums and i am a BIG procrastinator.
